Why Do People Hate On The Space Force???
Am I missing something? I don't get it.

This one really confuses me. I’ve mentioned before, I retired from the Air Force. The Air Force was, and still is, the premier US military service. Though there is usually plenty of good-natured inter-service rivalry and all other branches may grumble, but most know this to be true. Most everyone else knows this too.
The Space Force is still young but will almost certainly at some point surpass the Air Force as the premier US military force. If I were still in I would absolutely try to transfer over. This is an exciting time of what will likely be rapid growth and change in and it would be amazing to be a part of that process.
This is not the normal response I hear though. Usually it’s a comment joke with a negative slight. Or, this one “That’s a real thing?!” I’ve lost count how many times I’ve heard that one.
I simply don’t get it. Perhaps it’s because it wasn’t promoted to the public well. Or maybe it just seems too far-fetched for the masses to easily accept. The powers that be, have been working towards this for decades. But there was little to no public advertising or education leading up to its founding.
Most had never heard of the idea until it was signed into law in 2019. However, it was anything but a secret. I as a lowly E-5 back in the mid-90s knew about the eventual creation of the Space Force and its inevitable split from the Air Force.
I’m pretty sure the Air Force will retain its premier status for some time to come. Here’s a little trivia referenced from an Airman magazine from a long time ago. Less than half a percent of Americans even qualify to join the Air Force. That small amount is all there is for the AF to recruit from. How's that for premier?
The SF may someday have even higher standards. So there will likely come a day when those few new young potential recruits hold the AF and SF up next to each other and see a little more luster when looking up, towards space. Exciting times indeed!
If the Space Force still feels like a joke to you, I’d challenge you to think twice. Space already runs your daily life, your phone, your car, your money. Protecting that is no laughing matter. The question is not whether the Space Force will matter, but when you’ll start noticing. Don’t wait until it’s too late.
