New Study Suggests: Water is Wet & Sky is Blue.
Opponents argue researchers' findings.

OMG! Are you feeling me? Are you all picking up what I’m putting down? Are you smelling what I’m stepping in?
Thirty to forty years ago people would be scratching their heads wondering what the hell I’m talking about. Now? The basic foundations of life and society are in contention. The explosion of access to information has most certainly not made for a better-informed public. Quite the contrary in fact.
Physicists can argue about the nature and accuracy of the above title. For the rest of us it should be true iron-clad law, as well as the rest of the equally obvious.
I just don’t know, with a deep exasperated sigh.
I think I’m going to blame participation trophies again. When kids are taught that all contributions are equal and valuable and everyone contributed to the win equally, I suppose that makes adults who believe they’re equal to the premier expert in any field.
This clearly cannot be true. But one is likely to be Twitter mobbed if they do not tow the Twitter party line. In that pipe dream world, everyone is equally capable in every respect.
I would argue that is not true. There are some very, very smart and competent people in this world. There are also the exact opposites, in far greater quantities it seems.
I think we’re going to continue to struggle until enough people come to terms with the fact that we can’t all be special. An old supply sergeant once told me: “If everything is expedited, then everything is routine.” The same can be said of people: If everyone is special, then everyone is ordinary. And I don’t think ordinary is what Twitter mobbers want to be, regardless of the overwhelming evidence.
If you’re tired of living in a world where “water is wet” is treated like a hot debate, share this with someone who still believes in common sense. Subscribe for more writing that questions the noise and digs for clarity.
