How Do You Feel?

When did feelings become headline news?

How Do You Feel?

By TLS

Has anyone else noticed this massive shift in the so-called news that we have anymore? There once was a time when the news, biased or not, would report on an actual subject or situation. Information, biased or not, would be presented. An impact or expected outcome of this situation would be explained or discussed.

Today pretty much all you see are one of two broad categories. The first, pick an issue any issue and then find two polar extreme pundits and pit them against each other. Nothing useful comes out of that debate. No credible unbiased or less biased information is presented, nothing useful. Only affirmation bias of each camps position and a reinforcement that the ‘other’ side is evil.

The other common trend now is to find any type of disaster or catastrophe where property has been destroyed and lives have been lost or ruined. There you’ll find a reporter who goes up to a shell shocked individual wandering around aimlessly with a lost look in their eyes, the reporter says something like “everything here has been destroyed and your entire family is dead.” The reporter then sticks a microphone in their face and says how do you feel?

This is the crap that passes as news anymore. Rarely does actual useful information get conveyed to the viewer or reader. This is all clickbait garbage. The more sensational or outlandish the headline the more the masses click on that link, the more money the agency makes.

Turn away from clickbait, demand better. If your news source doesn’t provide better, find another one. Stop rewarding mediocrity. Maybe we can actually find some useful information again.
