California Sucks!

Pick a subject, any subject. Odds are California will have the worst or the most restrictive laws regarding that subject. California has turned into a bureaucratic legislative Charlie Foxtrot! Other than the weather, pretty much everything about California nowadays is terrible. They don’t even have any water anymore.
The reason for this recent rant? I have significant history and experience with firearms. However the last decade or so I have not done much shooting. Recently, and certainly not related to our current political state of affairs, I’ve begun dusting off an old ‘…particular set of skills…’ so to speak. After many years of procrastination, I recently obtained my concealed carry license in order to carry a weapon for personal defense.
This actually was not motivated by concerns of Armageddon or immediate imminent deadly threat presented in my 10 foot personal sphere. No, it was more motivated by active shooters which have become all too common. Additionally since I’ve begun shooting and carrying, this has expanded or increased my use of other firearms. While purchasing several new weapons earlier this year I noticed suppressors, or silencers, seemed to be very common nowadays. After going down that rabbit hole I wound up purchasing several. It turns out they are actually quite handy and useful, but I won’t dive into that here.
Now, if I stay in my home state there is not much problem. However since we have a nice motorhome and may want to travel someday soon, crossing some state lines may present a problem. Most states in the union are fairly lenient and have quite friendly laws regarding concealed carry, and suppressors actually. However it is literally a felony to own or be in possession of a suppressor in the state of California. This is on top of my other research looking into concealed carry for the state of California. Good luck.
Basically these two ordinarily small issues present enormous problems with staggeringly severe consequences if violated and caught. This makes traveling along the west coast problematic for anyone wishing to carry a firearm for self-defense.
So, California sucks. I think the state is rotting away under the weight of its own bureaucratic insanity. Unfortunately for the rest of us, we’ll likely have to deal with the stench and trouble for many years to come.
What’s your experience with California’s laws? Would you ever travel there with a firearm? Drop your thoughts in the comments and share this post with someone who’s considered carrying across state lines.
