And Then I Came To This World.

And, at some point I will leave this world.

And Then I Came To This World.

By TLS

I went on a cruise recently and while there I also went on an excursion. To where isn’t the point, but a random comment the tour guide made is.

English was not his first language, he spoke well but still struggled from time to time. His tour was excellent but he tended to wander off topic occasionally. On this particular tangent he was talking about his childhood and growing up in a poor country. He was talking about his parents coming together and their early life and his older siblings being born. Then he said “…and then I came to this world.” He did not say “…and then I came INTO this world.”

That simple fragment sentence stuck with me and I think it’s an excellent, possible, explanation.

I am not religious but I have absolutely seen enough strange things to make me go hmmmmmm. Additionally, I have heard others talk about a ‘plane’ of consciousness. I don’t know about that either. But, wouldn’t that be something if we came TO this world for a time, and then at some point left it to return to…elsewhere?

What an unimaginably wonderful place that must be. But, also, if so wonderful, why come here? Is here, equally wonderful? It could be, and often is but recent times definitely challenge that notion.

Alas, and unfortunately (presumably) we will never know while here, or maybe ever. We come to this world, live our lives such as they are for better or worse, then leave this world. Our loved ones are left behind struggling with the loss and left wondering even more.

We all came TO this world, we will all also leave this world. Will we reunite somewhere else and rejoice or will we blink out completely? One, we will happily notice, the other we will not. Either way it may be worth looking forward to.

If we really did come to this world instead of into it, then our time here is a visit, not a permanent address. That means what we do with it matters all the more. How do you want to spend your stay? Share your thoughts below, I’d love to hear how you see this journey.
