Five Readers

A question for the people who are actually here

Five Readers

To the few of you who are actually reading this,

I just went through my subscriber list. After two years of consistent writing, I had 16 subscribers. About half of those turned out to be inactive or abandoned accounts.

So I did a little pruning.

What I’m left with now is five people who consistently open emails and read the work. Five real readers. That’s not a complaint. It’s clarity.

And honestly, I’m grateful you’re here.

Which brings me to a question I genuinely want to ask you. Why do you read this? Why do you keep coming back?

Not in a marketing sense. Not for a testimonial. I mean personally. What keeps you opening these emails? What resonates, or even irritates you enough to stay engaged?

I’m going to open a chat in the Substack app too, just to see how that works with a group this size. If you’d rather reply privately, that’s great too.

This has always been an experiment in thinking out loud and trying to stay honest in a noisy world. Knowing why a few people choose to stick around would help more than you might think.

Stay thoughtful, and thanks for reading!
