Am I the only one who sees this?

This seems to be the expectations of young’ns today. I mean…seriously?! The demands listed in the title are of course just examples, and certainly not all-inclusive, of what I’m talking about. ‘I want everything and I want it all now!’ Many people struggle, and for good reasons, to accomplish just one or two of these goals over their entire lifetime. Life is hard, and demanding, and often very unforgiving and unpredictable. Life does not grant things easily.

How can these expectations even be entertained? I don’t know if school taught this (maybe it was buried in with all the other common core crap), maybe movies, or a side effect of social media, parents perhaps, something spread by those trouble-making friends we warned them about; what the hell man?!

‘If I can’t have all that now, then I won’t do anything!’ Another seemingly common trend. Then when young’ns find out it’s actually tough out there, ya know…in the real world, many just give up.

I really can’t comprehend this concept. I’m a Gen X’er so maybe it really is beyond my grasp. I don’t know how someone can expect to be handed everything for their entire life. Maybe it was participation trophies, who knows?

I think what I do know or can safely say is that if this is your perspective, buckle up butter cup, and get ready for disappointment.
